How Skillways Works

Skillways offers two product models to meet your institution’s needs for bringing Authenticated Skills™ to your users:

  • Build It: Use third-party content mapped in Skillways to employer-validated skills, or create custom skills-focused learning units to obtain skills profiles for learners across your organization.
  • Buy It: Purchase content already created, optimized for skills demonstration, and aligned to employer-validated skills using industry recognized taxonomies; option to customize.

Using Data for Continuous Improvement

Skillways serves as an extension to your existing LMS to validate the mastery of skills by mapping industry skills taxonomies to real-world assessments.

The result is a view of skills coverage at macro and micro levels to guide upskilling and reskilling endeavors and foster continuous improvement in your learning and development.

Technical Specifications

Skillways is both a consumer and provider using learning tools interoperability (LTI), which is the industry-standard way of serving content and data across learning technologies. It can also accommodate integrations via SCORM.

Skillways is content, taxonomy, and LMS agnostic and its core value proposition is the authentication of skills across a multitude of content types, platforms, and skills taxonomies.

“This work has illustrated mapping of existing nursing content to the draft AACN Essentials through the Skillways platform. This offers us a way to move toward competency-based education by truly modularizing our content for small-bite delivery because we can measure progress toward outcomes as students proceed along individual paths.”
